The Renton Technical College Accounting Program, in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service, is offering free income tax preparation this year. The service will be held on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Building H, room 210. Drop-in only. The program runs until April 26 with a brief hiatus for Spring Break (March 21 to April 1).
What to bring:
- Picture ID for taxpayer (and spouse, if applicable. Both taxpayer and spouse must be present.)
- Social security cards for all persons shown on tax returns
- All W2 Forms for wages
- All 1099s for interest, dividends & misc. income
- Form 1099-G for unemployment compensation
- Documentation of Medical Insurance Coverage
- Receipts and documentation for:
- Deductions claimed
- Educational expenses
Please arrive one hour before the posted closing time. Those arriving later may not have their tax returns prepared by the closing time.
Returns not prepared:
- Self-employment - expenses over $10,000
- Active Duty Military (special certification)
- Business entities, partnerships, and corporations
- Moving expenses
- Capital gains and losses - Schedule D
- Rental real estate and royalties
- Cancellation of debt - personal residence
