Renton Promise is now open to the Renton School District Class of 2024! Get FREE college tuition!

Have you heard about Renton Promise? Renton Promise is a program for Renton School District graduates that offers free tuition at Renton Technical College (RTC). Students can get up to two free years at RTC!

If you will graduate from a Renton School District high school in 2024, read on.

Here's how Renton Promise works:

Renton Promise offers the opportunity to attend RTC regardless of grade point average (GPA), income, ability, or country of birth.

  • You may attend for up to two years until you earn a certificate of completion or your first associate degree – whichever occurs first.
  • Stackable certificates may be earned along the way to associate degree completion within two years while funds last.
  • You can apply for the program within the first year after graduating.
  • Renton Promise assists with remaining qualified tuition and fees once federal and state funds are applied.
  • If you submitted a valid FAFSA or WASFA and do not qualify for financial aid, you may still be eligible for a Renton Promise Grant.

Renton Promise is available on a first-come, first-served basis. And if the paperwork sounds complicated, don't worry. RTC will help and answer your questions. You can do this!

Who is eligible for Renton Promise?

You must be a verified 2024 graduate of Hazen, Lindbergh, Renton, or Talley High School who enroll in RTC Fall, Winter, or Spring Quarter of the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

Once enrolled, you must meet the RTC Academic Standards of Progress policy to receive the grant in subsequent quarters.

If you are graduating in 2024, be sure to ask your high school counselor about Renton Promise or contact the RTC Financial Aid Office: financialaid@rtc.edu

Renton Promise was created by Washington State Representative Steve Bergquist, in partnership with Renton Technical College and Renton School District.
