Mark your calendars for the return of Redmond’s beloved summer tradition and signature summer event, Derby Days. The two-day festival will be held on July 12 and 13 at the Redmond City Hall campus and feature bicycle races at the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome.
“Whether you like festive parades, bicycle races, live music, a variety of delicious foods, carnival rides, or a craft market, Derby Days has something for everyone,” said Mayor Angela Birney. “An impressive display of lights featuring more than 100 drones above Municipal Campus provides a fantastic finish to the weekend.”
The festivities kick off on Friday night, July 12, with bike races for both adults and kids at Marymoor Park. Attendees can catch one of the races at Marymoor Park, then take a shuttle to City Hall to have dinner from the food vendors and unwind at the Derby Days Beer and Wine Garden on opening night while listening to a lineup of live, local music on the mainstage.
The fun continues on Saturday with the Kids Bike Parade and the Derby Days Grand Parade. Throughout the day, attendees can take a shuttle to Redmond Town Center to explore the VALA Arts Festival, to Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome to try the track and enjoy more bike racing, and back to City Hall for live music, food vendors, carnival rides, the beer and wine garden, a curated craft market, and more.
The weekend culminates with the Derby Days drone show at City Hall, where more than 100 drones will take to the skies, using cutting-edge drone and LED lighting technology to create an incredible display of lights in the night sky for audiences of all ages to enjoy.
